HWdb Update Service - Features
Features Subscribe Usage Agreement My Account Support

The HWdb Update Service provides an easy way to keep your HAMweather 3.x installations providing the most accurate forecast information from the National Weather Service (NWS).

When you subscribe to the HWdb update service you will be provided with access to the latest databases for HAMweather 2.x and HAMweather 3.x.  The databases includes, the latest US zip codes per the USPS, the city to NOAA weather zone correlations (for forecasts), city to closest actively reporting ICAO correlations (for current conditions) and more.

Subscription Features:
  • Email Notification of Database Updates
When any of the databases available through the HWdb Update Service are updates, you will receive an email notification to inform of the update.
  • Latest US Zip Codes
For use with HW2 and HW3.  The post office tends to provide quarterly updates to their zip code databases. HAMweather will then provide updates to the custom zip code databases used by HW as needed.
  • City to Weather Zones correlations
For use with HW2 and HW3. The NWS tends to make minor updates to the US weather zones randomly.  HAMweather will provide updates to the databases to match the weather zone changes as needed.
  • City to closest ICAO correlations
For current conditions, the closest ICAO must be matched with a city, and ICAO stations. The HWdb services databases include this correlation and are updated every 1-2 months to match the latest actively reporting ICAO stations, as new ones are added, old removed etc.
  • Access to Expanded Databases
The HWdb service includes access to optional expanded databases that contain thousands of additional smaller cities and locations that are not included in the standard databases.
  • Access to Custom Web Services
Occasionally HAMweather, LLC will release a plugin that requires data that may not be easily available from the standard NOAA web sites. Often in these cases, HAMweather will make the data required for the plugin available to active HWdb subscribers. One instance of this is the HW3 FlightRules plugins. This Plugin requires data on hundreds of ICAOs across the US. Obtaining this data from NOAA is impractable as they provide the data for individual locations. So HAMweather provides an XML feed for HWdb Subscribers to access the needed data in a small condensed form.
